- Academy Goal: to prepare students in the area of Information Technology for the world of work or college upon graduation
- Curriculum:
- College prep academic courses: math, science, social studies, English, foreign language, Fine Arts survey (will meet the TOPS requirements)
- Technology courses in the areas of Digital Media, Web Design, Programming, Computer Networking, Computer Repair and Maintenance, Databases
- Internship, arranged by Academy, in the area of IT in the summer between the junior and senior years
- AOIT students will attend academic and technology classes as a group.
- Application taken on-line from mid February to April 15.
- Only current eighth graders may apply. Students must pass to the ninth grade to be eligible. If there are more applicants than slots, a lottery wil be held.
- AOIT students are required to take the college prep curriculum and maintain a 2.5 to remain in the program.
- All eighth graders in Lafayette Parish may apply, even those from outside the Carencro High School attendance zone. Bus transportation will be provided for all out-of-zone students.
