AOIT Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On October 20, 2004, the CHS Academy of Information Technology celebrated the opening of the Academy with an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. A reception for AOIT Advisory Board members, local civic and governmental leaders, LPSS Board members and staff, AOIT faculty, and parents was first held in the school library. AOIT Co-Directors Kit Becnel and Joel Hilbun spoke to the group and a video feature of the Academy by CHS faculty member, Jud Broussard, was shown.

Afterwards, all parties moved to an outside stage and joined the Carencro High School student body for the main festivities. The CHS band played, and the U.S. flag, followed by the AOIT flag, was raised. CHS Principal Annette Rath welcomed everyone, and Advisory Board President Mike Spears (of Firefly Digital) and LPSS Academy Supervisor Burnell Lejeune spoke to the students and guests. The celebration ended with a special AOIT cheer by the CHS cheerleaders and a performance by the CHS Dance Team, the Dazzlers. Guests were then taken on a tour of the AOIT facilities.
