  • Kit Becnel, AOIT Director, served as one of four judges in a national competition, sponsored by the National Academy Foundation. She helped judge video projects from NAF students across the nation in a contest with scholarships going to the winners. - Link

  • AOIT Director Kit Becnel was named as the LPSS Schools of Choice Educator of the Year at the November 10 Fall Frenzy. (November 10, 2007) - Pictures
  • Fall Frenzy - On November 10, 2007, AOIT, along with all other Schools of Choice in Lafayette Parish, participated in an informational expo for parents and students. All schools chose a movie theme; AOIT chose the Lord of the Rings. Thanks to AOIT English teacher Anna Marquardt for a wonderful job with the decorations, the AOIT parent organization for assistance with setup and takedown, and to the AOIT students and faculty for manning the booths and answering questions about the program.   • Representatives of the National Academy Foundation and MDRC Research visited the Carencro AOIT to evaluate the program for inclusion in a national study on academies. (October 2, 2007)
  • AOIT Co-Director, Joel Hilbun, was featured in a short article in the Acadiana Weekly Newspaper. (September 26, 2007) - Article

  • AOIT graduate, Ryan Courville, was given a scholarship by the Scott Business Association. Ryan is currently studying networking at the Louisiana Technical College. (Pictures)

  • AOIT received the Aldo Papone Award for Leadership, recognizing us as one of six top performing NAF academies in the nation, at the last day of the National Academy Foundation's Annual Summer Institute. (July 21, 2007) - Picture
