The Festival Director has the right to reassign your video/animation to a different category and/or combine categories for any reason.

Freshman

Category content and video length is to be determined by the freshman technology teacher. NOTE: a freshman can also create and enter a video in another category.

Animation

(defined as a wmv file which was created on computer using animation creation software)

Instructional/Non-Fiction or Entertainment

Short Length

20 – 39 seconds

Medium Length

40+ seconds

Video

(defined as a wmv file which was recorded using a video camera and edited on the computer)

Instructional/Non-Fiction

Additional Awards

All animations/videos, regardless of category will be eligible for these extra awards.

Best Special Effects - defined as a change in the look of the original video created by the computer in the post-production process; this includes but is not limited to the use of chromokey, filters, or rotoscoping

Best Technical Quality – defined as top quality in the image and sound; this includes—but is not limited—to clear dialogue, good sound mix, smooth transitions, no shaking of camera, or good picture quality/color/contrast

Best Storytelling – defined as use of images/sound in telling a story, instructing the view, or making a point

Best Sound Track – defined as best use of music or sound effects to advance the story
